John McInnis Commits to Minnesota State

John McInnis - who spent the last two years playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Okotoks Oilers - will join the Mavericks next season.  He is a pretty big forward, listed at 6'2", 203 lbs.

This season he scored 79 points in 69 games averaging 1.1 points per game - 46 goals, 33 assists.  He shoots left and grew up in Boston, Mass., where he played his prep school hockey.  His career totals, while playing for the Okotoks Oilers, are pretty impressive: 140GP, 74 goals, 66 assists, 140 points, 23 power play goals, 6 short handed goals and 14 game-winning goals.

McInnis, 20, led the Oilers in goals scored (and PP goals) this season but ranked 2nd on the team in total points.  He is the club's all time leading goal scorer.  Corbin Knight - who now plays for the University of North Dakota - held the previous record.

Overall, I think McInnis should be a real nice addition to the Mavericks and I'm looking forward to watching his college game.
